This permits the Blu ray player to contain 25GB in per layer; on the other hand, HD-DVD is only capable of holding 15GB per layer.

Whereas Blu-ray provides broad support for the major consumer electronics and the format would be also supported PS3 console, contrary, the HD-DVD format supports far fewer hardware.
